5 MAKEUP HACKS FOR SWEATPROOF MAKEUP THIS SUMMER
Trust me
when I say I know how it feels spending an hour on farding and blending your
makeup only for it to meltdown minutes after stepping in the scorching sun. All
it takes is a few degree Celsius to go from Aphrodite to Jyestha. Keeping your
makeup sweat-proof can be tricky. The sun has a history of destroying those seamless
makeup looks for job interviews, dates, festivals and functions. To save your
makeup from the wrath of sun, we have found 5 effective yet simple makeup hacks
that will be a lifesaver this summer.
USE A
PRIMER:
Investing
in a good primer is the first step towards flawless makeup, especially in
summers. A primer functions as a base for other layers of makeup. It helps your
foundation to stick and stay, decreasing the chances of melting and cracking. Primers
are known for controlling oil and minimizing skin pores. By keeping your
natural skin oils within, primers stop foundation from mixing with skin oils
that causes it to melt. The top of line quality of primers is that the product
is very light weight on your skin. Plus, it moisturizes your skin and suits all
skin types making it a win-win situation.
Usage:
Cleanse your face and apply moisturizer. Take a pea-sized amount of product and
apply it all over your face and neck (always remember to include your neck). Other
than the T-zone, eyelids are also prone to heavy sweating. Therefore, include
your eyelids as well while applying your primer. Wait for 60 to 90 seconds
before applying the rest of your makeup.
OIL-FREE
MOISTURIZER:
As soon
as winters leave, we pack our moisturizers and throw them in the abyss only to
take them out the next winters because, you know, “we don’t need moisturizers
in summers!” WRONG! Dehydrated and under-moisturized skin is a major cause of
excess oil or sebum production on face. If the skin is devoid of moisture, it
signals by producing more oil and sebum. Therefore, do not ever leave using a
moisturizer in summer, even if you have oily skin. Switch to using an oil-free
moisturizer for hydrating your skin.
An
extra-tip is to keep on drinking plenty of water to maintain your body’s fluid
level.
Usage: Cleanse
your face with your favourite cleanser. Take a coin-sized amount of moisturizer
and apply it evenly on your face and neck. Wait for 10 to 15 minutes at least
before makeup application.
USE A
CONCEALER:
A single
phrase for summer makeup routine is “Less is more!” Less amount of products
layered on your face means less chances of melting and cracking. Another effective
summer makeup hack suggested by experts is to use a concealer instead of a
foundation. A concealer provides full coverage. It can be used to cover acne,
dark spots, under-eye circles, blemishes and hyper-pigmentation. Concealers are
available in a wide range of shades to match your skin tone. Therefore, instead
of covering your complete face and neck with a foundation, use a concealer to
cover spots, pimples, scars and you are good to go.
Although
if you want to use a foundation for full coverage, use a light-weight liquid foundation
and make sure to use an oil-free foundation.
Usage: Apply
a small amount of concealer on spots, scars, hyper-pigmented area, under-eye
circles or any other spots where your skin is uneven. It is advisable to use a concealer
that is two shade lighter than your skin tone. Use a wet beauty blender or
blending brush to blend the product. Beauty blenders are better for this
purpose. Blend the product until it matches your skin tone. If using a beauty
blender, use tapping motion to blend the product instead of rubbing.
LIP AND
CHEEK TINTS:
“If I
have to give up one makeup product, I will leave lipsticks!” said no lady ever
in the history of makeup. Lipsticks are a major part of everyday glow-up. Yet,
in summer season, lipsticks become cracky giving a dull and worn out look. It
is best to use a lip tint instead of a lipstick for a long lasting lip color.
While lipsticks form a layer on the surface of lip skin, lip tints are absorbed
within the skin layer to give a long lasting color. Lip tint formula is thinner
than lipstick and feels almost non-existent on lips due to its
light-weightiness. They also give a more natural look for everyday use,
especially in summers. Another good replacement is to use a lip gloss like good
old teenage days.
Cheek
tints are an excellent replacement for powdered blush-on in summers that wear
off quickly in the summer heat. To get those perfect scarlet cheeks this
summer, use a cheek tint instead of a powdered blush. To get a more long
lasting and brighter shade, you can pair it with a cream blush.
Usage: Prime
your lips with a lip balm at least 30 minutes before applying lipstick. Wipe it
off with a tissue to remove any dead skin cells. Apply the lip tint on your
lips with its brush. Blend it in with your index finger. Tap your lips with a
tissue to take off any extra pigment and voila!
Apply a
few drops of cheek tint on your cheek bone and blend it with a wet beauty
blender through tapping motion. If you want to add more redness to your cheeks,
use a blush brush to apply cream blush to your cheek bone. Blend it in upward
motion until the perfect shade is achieved.
SETTING
SPRAY:
Summer makeup hack number five is a summer time
essential. You guessed it right, A Setting Spray! This summer, be friends with
a setting spray for long lasting make-up. It hydrates your skin and absorbs
excessive oil keeping your makeup smudge and crease proof.
Usage: After
completing your makeup look, puff the setting spray on your face and neck and
let dry.
Opting
for waterproof products aids in keeping makeup flawless but with these simple
summer makeup hacks, you can ace your long-lasting makeup look. Happy summers!
